Community Events
ARIZONA EVENTS Vollstedt Award In 1999, STRATCO established the Vollstedt Award for service and leadership in women's sports. It is presented annually to a person or organization who shows courage, commitment, passion for women's opportunities in sports, volunteerism, and a desire to help youngsters be successful. Linda Vollstedt (ASU) was the most successful college women's golf Coach in history.
MISSOURI and KANSAS EVENTS Women Helping Women® Golf Tournament, 1990-2001 Proceeds from the Women Helping Women tournaments totaled $500,000 with STRATCO matching that amount. This allowed STRATCO's Giving Network to contribute $1,000,000 to programs and agencies that educate, develop leadership, and create new hope to under-served women and children. While many of the tournament contributors were from out-of-state, approximately 99% of all donations remained in the Kansas City area.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale Since 1954, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale has provided more than 100,000 Northeast Valley youth with a positive, supervised environment to explore the power of their potential. Today we serve 15,000 children and teens through the organization's nine branches and 12 outreach sites located in Scottsdale, Fountain Hills, Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, Hualapai Indian Community and other Northeast Valley neighborhoods. The Club offers more than 100 youth development programs emphasizing five core areas: the arts; character & leadership development; education & career development; health & life skills; and sports, fitness & recreation.
